Toxin is a microbial product or component that can injure another cell or organism at low concentrations. Toxin may be a protein or a lipid or others. Toxins include crop contaminants, naturally occurring toxic substances, marine toxins etc.


Crop contaminants are substances that are not intentionally added to foods but which get added up during process of their production, manufacture, processing, packing, transport etc. It includes toxins like Aflatoxin, Vomitoxin etc.


Naturally occurring toxins are substances that occur naturally in any food. It includes Agaric acid, Hydrocyanic acid, Hypericine, Saffrole etc.


Marine toxins are toxins found in water like Polyaromatic hydrocarbons, Polychlorinated biphenys, Pesticides, Heavy metals and others that can cause marine water polluted.


These toxins are carcinogenic and cause mutations. LGIL has experienced persons and sophisticated instruments (GC & HPLC with UV & Fluorescence detector) for detecting these toxic residues.
